VS501

Power and performance packaged for the City

The Johnston VS501 shares the same hydrostatic drive system as the VS651 but has been shortened to allow greater manoeuvrability in confined spaces.

This provides the user with a heavy duty sweeper giving a 5.1m³ hopper volume on a lighter 9.5T or 12T chassis.

The Johnston designed Hydrostatic Drive System utilises the chassis engine to drive the hydrostatic pump. It allows infinitely variable forward speed control for the driver and can be equipped with single or dual sweep brush control allowing a 3.6m brush width and the ability to simultaneously sweep.

Manoeuvrability

With a 3000mm wheel base, when mounted on a 12T chassis, the VS501 has a class leading kerb-to-kerb turning circle of only 10.54 metres, a useful advantage when negotiating congested urban streets and coping with street furniture and overhanging trees.

Well equipped to meet the demanding requirements of the urban city environment, the VS501 has an overall height of 2880mm (chassis dependant) and carries 1000 litres of water whilst giving a 4T payload to achieve high productivity and prolonged on-station working.

Robust Construction

With a heavy duty, corrosion resistant stainless steel body, the Johnston VS501 is robust and built for unrivalled durability.

Mounted to the sub-frame, the hydraulically operated sweeping system is designed to prolong the life of the brush and reduces the cost of ownership.

Both channel and wide-sweep brush installations feature quick-change mechanisms which reduce downtime between changeovers.

In-Cab Controls

Sweeping operations are controlled from the master module inside the cab, while critical systems controls - including master circuit breaker, valves and auxiliary equipment for the pneumatic, hydraulic and water systems - are housed in a purpose built, dust proof and weather proof locker.

The VS501 also benefits from IP67 automotive electrical connectors to enhance reliability.

Advanced Hopper Design

Through experience in hopper design coupled with dedicated research, Johnston have developed a unique hopper void which creates a cyclone filtering of dust and debris particles prior to discharge to atmosphere through filter mesh screens.

This unique design is a standard feature of all Johnston V Range sweepers.
The hopper discharge chute directs loads efficiently and cleanly, avoiding contact with the rest of the sweeper, in addition the load de-watering option allows water to drain from the hopper waste before discharging a load.

The VS501 also features as standard rapid water drainage from the sweeper systems when freezing conditions threaten.
